Step 1: Discover what job suits you
Sounds difficult right? Well there are one or two helpful tools out there. Using a skills match software really helps to drill down into the skills that suit your preferences and abilities. The best one we found was on the Prospects website, which gives you both a Psychometric Test and a general Prospects Planner test.
Step 2: Find the best career possibilities
Now that you have a better idea of what career you would be suited to (and interested in) you can look at the career opportunities available to you.
A recommended way to find the full range of jobs your degree is suited to is by looking at the range of options with your subject, which is handily shown on the Prospects website. Additionally, Kent University also list some of the types of jobs graduates have got in relation to their degree across a wide range of subjects, which helps give you a realistic view of what career you may follow.
Step 3: Improve your CV and Interview technique
You should now have a great level of knowledge, which allows you to confidently feel like you can try and find your first graduate job.
Firstly, your university careers services will help you develop some key skills to stand out, both in your CV and in your interviews. The Prospects website has a great up-to-date list of careers services for all UK universities.
